Project Experience - BRCO Construction site

Riverside County Office of Education
The Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE), located in downtown Riverside, CA, provides specific educational, financial, legislative, facility support, and leadership services to all 23 K-12 school districts located in Riverside County.

In 2014 the district office was allocated just over $1M in Prop 39 grant funds, and BR’s Energy Division (formerly Intrinzec Energy) worked closely with RCOE’s facility team to develop and design a plan that included LED and advanced lighting controls for the main campus, both interior and exterior, and solar photovoltaic carports at the main entrance parking lot.

The district opted for direct procurement of equipment and labor, which BR’s team facilitated through RFP development and on-site supervision of the installing labor force. The RFP process included on-site mockups, allowing district personnel and board members to see the proposed lighting equipment as it looked installed. Acuity was selected as the best-value respondent, and Lithonia LEDs with nLight Air lighting controls were installed.

RCOE partnered with the California Conservation Corps (CCC), a state sponsored workforce development program, who provided the installation labor under their own grant allocation, at no cost to the district. BR Energy Division provided on-site support and supervision throughout the process, working side by side with the CCC’s own on-site supervisors to ensure both training and project goals aligned and were met.

The solar schematic design and RFP development was also developed by the BR team and Precision Electric was selected as the best value respondent.
